Surprise, surprise, President Trump took to Twitter to express his thoughts. But I mean, how else would be know what the ‘real’ news is, right? This time, Trump seems to think that the Russia investigation is a hoax by the Democrats, because they are still mad about Clinton’s loss. He went on a complete tirade, one tweet coming after the other. He said, “…The Dems are using this terrible Witch Hunt for evil politics, the R’s [republicans]…are now fighting back like never before. There is so much GUILT by the Democrats/Clinton…” These tweets came after reports regarding the first arrest in the Russian collusion inquiry. The first charges were filed on behalf of the special counsel led by Robert Mueller, regarding the Russian interference in the 2016 election, favoring Trump. US intelligence agencies have already concluded that the Russian government wanted to help Trump.
Although he tweets often, he mostly tweets as a defense mechanism. When he feels attacked or threatened, the way he makes himself feel better I by tweeting and defending himself. Blaming it on the Democrats is usually the way to go about it. When Paul Manafort, a former Trump aid turned himself into the FBI, Trump said, “The Fake News is working overtime. As Paul Manafort lawyer said, there was “no collusion… I hope people will start to focus on our Massive Tax Cuts for Business (jobs) and the Middle Class (in addition to Democrat corruption)!” Interesting, because isn’t the best way to focus on jobs and the middle class, hmm, I don’t know, tweet about plans for creating jobs? He is just drawing more attention to the things he dislikes about Democrats.
There are definitely many more defensive tweets to come, as Mueller is just getting started.
If he has nothing to hide from Mueller, then why is he so defensive? Why did he have to tweet “NO COLLUSION” in all capital letters? Seems fishy to me, just like when he said, “My wife Melania, who happens to be right next to me”, which sparked a conspiracy theory that the person standing next to him was not actually Melania.
Even the White House Press Secretary, Sarah Sanders, mentioned about the Clinton campaigns ties with Russia, again, which has nothing to do with Trump. Either way, Mueller does not seem to have any intention of backing down. If Trump is telling the truth, then he and his team should have nothing to worry about. There is no need for Trump’s tweets if he is innocent, because defending himself will only draw attention and make him look even more guilty. Mueller is not backing down, and it looks like Trump has no intentions of doing so either.

Yes- we are headed into- shall we say- interesting times. However, we should take seriously both Mueller’s investigation and the lengths to which the White House, working in consort with FOX news and other right wing media outlets, is willing to go to discredit the investigation and Bob Mueller himself. Were overwrought tweets the only remedy the President had, we could relax. However, his ability to fire Mueller is of serious concern and could well bring on a constitutional crisis.
